Virtual Cookie Swap Day!

I had planned on getting this up yesterday, but maybe it was a Friday the 13th thing, I just didn't have enough hours in the day!

So, like I was saying they other day - this whole idea came about because I was thinking about school fund raisers (since we are headed into that time of the year) and something that would be a bit different - something fresh. and Yummy. and Chocolatey... after all who doesn't love chocolate? Or maybe that's just me?

Anyway, the idea would be that everyone could bring in their favorite cookies on a plate, along with the recipe, printed out on a card. Then set it up silent auction style and have everyone bidding for their favorite cookies. Providing the recipes would serve the purpose of getting a bit more 'bang for your buck' - not only do you get to eat this plate but now you can make them any time you like! It also would provide information in case of food allergies or dietary restrictions. Perfect, right?

You could also include a binder with matching stationery to drive up those bids even more! How awesome is that?

And Finally, what good is a cookie swap without at least one yummy cookie recipe?

Yummy Chocolate Chip Cranberry Cookies

Ingredients:

2 sticks Unsalted Butter
¾ cups Dark Brown Sugar
¾ cups White Sugar
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Real Vanilla
2 whole Eggs
2-¼ cups All-purpose Flour
1/2 cup Milk Chocolate Chips
1 cup chocolate covered cranberries

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl cream the butter until fluffy. Add the dark brown sugar, mix and then add the white sugar and mix some more. Add salt and baking soda. Next add the vanilla. Add one egg at a time and mix in between each one. Slowly add a little flour at a time until all is incorporated, mixing after each addition. Lastly add the chocolate chips abd cranberries and stir to combine.

Form small rounded balls of cookie dough and place two inches apart on a baking sheet (lined or unlined, as long as it is non-stick). Bake for 8-10 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes and remove to a wire rack for further cooling.

Cookie Swap Fund Raiser - an Alternative to your typical School Fund Raiser

Wow! As I was logging in this morning I realized I have already added 100 posts! I can't believe how fast time passes!

Last night I was thinking of how close we are to school starting again - and of course, the way school funding is - that brought to mind that we will soon be doing a lot of school fund raisers. We are lucky, in that the charter school our youngest goes to, doesn't do your typical fund raisers. So we aren't out there at the same time as all the other kids trying to sell the same merchandise. However, it also means that we have to be more creative!

So I was thinking of different things we could do, and one idea was to do a "Cookie Swap." We could set it up as a silent auction - and bid for your favorite plates of cookies!

To take it a step further - why not include a binder with blank recipe cards?

In the Top 5 Viewed: Precious Peacock in Purple, Teal and Green

The last few days I have been very busy working behind the scenes and getting some new designs off my computer and into the store - read over 100 products put up yesterday! (I know some others do a great deal more, but...)I didn't want to bombard everyone with new designs though so I've only talked about a couple so far. Those will be coming up in the next week or so but for the moment, I got curious. Just which designs were people looking at, and hopefully buying, most often? Out of the top 5 - I've blogged most of them - but I don't think I've blogged this little guy before.

This design is called Precious Peacock (yes, I do love peacocks and have several designs with them in my store - and one more in my head that I just haven't gotten around to yet). I take pictures of them every chance I get. Just another reason why I love Zoos! But this one, is a graphic illustration. I love the strong but elegant lines and the colors are a mix of my own favorite colors. You can find this design in my store of course, as well as matching invitations, save the date cards, this response card, and lots more! Although I designed it with weddings in mind, it would be a great invitation for any event where you want something simple, elegant but not too formal. Maybe an afternoon tea? A church auction?
