New Ked's Contest over at Zazzle!

According to the Zazzle Blog:

Zazzle is looking for PRO-Keds with patterns! Design a pair of PRO-Keds (the newest Zazzle product) with a great pattern and you could walk away with $1,000. What kind of patterns? Any kind you can think of! Boat patterns, skull patterns, flame patterns and more are all eligible to win. Just get designing on a pair of pattern PRO-Keds before this contest is over. click here for more info

I decided to throw my hat, or shoes in this case, into the ring and submitted my new "Just Married" Hi-Top shoes... now I guess I just have to sit back and cross my fingers - but honestly, I don't know how they would pick a winner - there are already over 400 entries and almost every pair is a winner!

Wish me luck!

Sick Little One=Productive day??

I spent the day taking care of a sick little one today, so who would have thought it could be such a productive day! I actually got about 8 new designs done for Noteable Expressions - I couldn't believe it! One of my favorites for today was this one:

I think one of the reasons I like this one so much is that it reminds me that winter won't ALWAYS be here, even if it feels like it right now. I just wish I were on a beach under those palm trees...

Zazzle has also announced a new contest to promote their newest product line - Keds High Tops! Although they are sold as "mens" shoes, I've noticed that a lot of designers are making some for women as well and just explaining the size difference - I have to admit, I've got a couple of cute designs in mind for a 'wedding' set so I may do the same!

Tips 101: How do you set a realistic guest list when you are on a budget?

Today is the first of what I hope will be many "Tips 101" for throwing a party or having the perfect wedding. I spent several years as a party planner, both for private small parties as well as corporate and weddings. There are many tips and ideas that I picked up along the way, and now, I get to share those!

So, first, how do you create a realistic guest list - one that won't break the bank? This works whether you are getting ready to celebrate your oldest's graduation or getting ready to start your life as a newlywed couple.

Create a tier system:

Tier 1 is immediate, closest family and friends you wouldn't marry without

Tier 2 is aunts, uncles and 1st cousins

Tier 3 is co-workers and bosses

Tier 4 is 2nd cousins and parents' co-workers

However you'd like to arrange it. Then you start at Tier 1, add up how many people, then move to Tier 2 and add up. Keep going until you hit your target number, and if you get to Tier 4 and you're over a comfortable number, you just knock out all of the Tier 4 people. Of course, you keep this Tier system kinda quiet, because no one wants to find out they're on Tier 4!!!

Creating a guest list is one of the toughest parts of wedding planning, but here's something that will make you feel better -- everyone understands these days that big weddings are just not possible in this economy, so family and friends are really not offended if they don't make the cut. Some are actually relieved that they don't have to travel, get a hotel room and give a gift.
