How to Plan a New Year's Eve Party

When it comes to ringing in the New Year, who doesn't love a good party? If you're planning to throw a New Year's Eve party, planning ahead is key so you can enjoy yourself too. Here are some tips and ideas on how to plan a great New Year's Eve party:

•Get your invites out early. New Year's Eve is a popular party night and people get booked up quickly. Get your invitations out early so your friends know that your house will be the place to be.

•Delegate. Don't do everything yourself! Tell your friends what they can do to help you for the party planning. If a friend offers to bring wine or an appetizer or wants to come help you decorate, take her up on it! It will make your job easier and you will feel less stressed when it's time for the party!

•Food. New Year's Eve party food should be simple. This is not the night for a full course meal that will have your guests feeling sleepy by 9 PM. Instead, serve a variety of finger foods and other items that can be made ahead (so you're not stuck in the kitchen while the party is going on). Set up a buffet-style table so guests can serve themselves throughout the evening. Some food suggestions include a gourmet cheese and cracker tray, vegetables and dip, pigs in a blanket (mini hot dogs wrapped in crescent dough and baked), and mini quiches. If you want to serve more of a "meal," keep it simple by putting out a cold cut platter with some good-quality rolls. Consider using your crock pot for items like Swedish meatballs or a crock pot full of sliced roast beef in au jus for sandwiches.

•Don't break the bank over the bar. Don't feel as though you have to have a fully stocked bar in order to have a good party. Consider offering beer and one red and one white wine selection. If you have some great cocktail recipes that you're dying to serve, narrow it down to one type and make a pitcher or a shaker full. Be sure to have some non-alcoholic drinks available for those teetotalers and designated drivers!

•Decorating ideas. If you already decorated your house for Christmas, keep those decorations up for your New Year's Eve party for a more festive feel. You can also add some gold and silver streamers or balloons. Buy some fun things like noisemakers or blowouts and New Year's party hats.

•Music. Have background music for your party by tuning into a commercial-free satellite radio station or by using CDs or mix tapes. You can download great party music online on sites like iTunes.com, and then create a play list that can play back during your entire party. While there aren't many New Year's-themed songs around, one classic that you should play during your party is "Auld Lang Syne" -- if you don't recognize the title, it's the well-known Scottish song that is always played when the New Year's Eve ball drops in Times Square.

•When the clock strikes midnight. Have the television on to countdown to midnight along with the folks in Times Square. Make sure your friends have noisemakers and confetti to throw when the clock strikes midnight.

•Plan for some overnight guests, just in case. If your friends have had too much to drink or just have a long way to travel, make sure you have sleeping accommodations or a designated driver for them. New Year's Eve is a heavy party night and there are many irresponsible drivers on the road, so keep your friends safe and start your new year off on the right foot.

Corporate Christmas Parties 411 and Tips

Every year I get lots of requests to help out with hints and tips on how to plan a Company Christmas Party. So I have gathered my resources to provide you with lots of ideas to make this year’s holiday party safe, fun and memorable experience for you and your co-workers. These ideas are designed for both large companies with great budgets as well as small businesses with minimum resources.

Don’ts:

Do not focus your energy solely on the buffet, thinking food is what draws workers to the Christmas parties. Your attendance will drop off because those parties are predictable.

The most deadly type of holiday party is a sit-down dinner at the boss’s house, which often has a pressure-filled conservative atmosphere. Try having a different entertainment each year. Holiday party hosts can play a major role in keeping their friends and families safe by looking at alternatives to alcoholic beverages. There are a few common sense rules that should be followed when hosting a holiday party. If alcohol is going to be served at a party, this Safe Holiday Party Guide will give you a few pointers when planning an event.

Organize & Prepare:

You can start by sending out the invitations with a note included that there will be a prize for the person that decks out in the most Christmas gear. This can include anything from a Christmas costume to guests wearing garments that display cheerful holiday clothing, jewelry, hats, or anything that their imagination can dream up. The person that shows up to your party that is voted by all as wearing the "best dressed" Christmas outfit wins a wrapped gift of their choice from the gift table.

You can have a designated receptionist announce the names of each new arrival, crown them with a Santa hat with their name, while reading something humorous about them. This works great especially at large Corporate parties when customers or large number of employees participate and not everyone knows each other. First names on Santa Hats work much better than name badges and the hats then double as party favors everyone gladly takes home.

But the energy of the party starts with the invitations…. or Christmas Greeting cards… one of our customers had a great idea to take a picture of all employees in Santa hats, personalized with employees names and use the postcard as a corporate Christmas card as well as Christmas party invitation for their customers. The Hats were then saved for the holiday party gala.

Entertainment:

Make sure you have some fun program with games and activities for your Holiday Party. Also make sure you have some great Christmas Party music.

Party Favors

Also, don’t forget to wrap the party up with a take-home gift party favor, such as a personalized stocking or a custom logo Christmas stocking with a gift certificate, a turkey or even an ornament with the company logo.

Those custom imprint Christmas Stockings with your company logo are perfect decorations in the Christmas partry room and then when it’s time to leave you can give the stockings with Christmas bonus checks or Gift Certificates to your employees and some fun goodies like Company Logo ornaments for your customers and guests.

Honeysuckle Pink Wedding Invitations in High Demand

As the previous post let you know - the new "It" color of 2011 is going to be what they are calling Honeysuckle Pink or Rose. Here are just a few samples of wedding invitations from my Zazzle store that would fit in perfectly with that theme.

No matter which design you choose you can customize it in any way you need to make sure that it sets the perfect mood for your dream wedding!

Honeysuckle Is Predicted As 2011's Hot Hue for Weddings and Fashion

(NewsCore) - The new year is looking brighter in at least one respect. On Thursday, color authority Pantone will announce that its color of the year for 2011 is an intense pink it calls "honeysuckle."
Pantone predicts that we're about to see a lot of this color, appearing on everything from designer dresses to pillows, water bottles, nail polish, sofas and appliances, The Wall Street Journal reported. A sherbety shade of pink, with a hint of red and orange zest, honeysuckle is seen by designers as a pick-me-up at a time when many people have had their fill of misfortune.
Pantone polls graphic, industrial, fashion and other designers from around the world each year to forecast the colors that will have broad appeal. After many design experts told Pantone they were using versions of a hot pink, the company narrowed the field to this precise shade -- known specifically as Pantone 18-2120 TCX.
'It's a very "Mad Men" pink. It's like the lipstick our mothers wore,' said Tom Mirabile, head of global trends and design at Lifetime Brands Inc., the company behind Mikasa, Cuisinart and other houseware brands. "There's a retro aspect to it that's going to be very popular." The company has glassware and dinnerware coming out in a hot pink much like honeysuckle and is using the color in all sorts of home accents.
The word "honeysuckle" doesn't signal bright pink to everyone. In some parts of the country, the flowers are yellow, white or other shades. A Pantone spokeswoman says that people's opinion of honeysuckle's color derives from the flower they saw as children.
"There's an innate optimism to pink," says Jonathan Adler, an interior and housewares designer who is using hot shades of pink widely in his 2011 collections. "As we speak, I'm wearing a hot pink shirt," he said.

Growing Popularity of Wedding Websites - Why?

Websites are no longer just for business, as personal web space is growing in popularity, especially within the wedding industry. People are beginning to realize how useful they are as a means of communicating information to all their guests. Gone are the days of endless phone calls chasing up missing RSVP’s. Now, at the click (or at very most a few clicks) of a mouse, everything you and your guests need can be made available in cyberspace!

Personal wedding websites are a popular trend to hit the wedding scene, as couples realize the enormous value of having one. Not only are they a convenient way of keeping your guests updated, they can be used to tell the couple’s story, and enable friends and family to follow their plans for the big day. They are also a great way of sharing great memories from the day with all those who may not have been able to make it in person. Elderly relatives or loved ones, who may live on the other side of the world, can now enter into the spirit of the joyous occasion.

Star Jones, co-host of “The View” and banker Al Reynolds for example had a wedding website, which they treated as an information resource for their guests.

There are numerous wedding websites offering a wide range of services. Which site you choose to use, will depend on how much you feel needs to be made available, and exactly what you want to use it for – i.e. simply a source of information for the wedding day, or a portfolio of the beginning of your new life as a married couple.

Some of these sites are very simple, consisting of just one page that announces the wedding, whereas others are used to tell a story of the couple, with photos of the engagement and wedding, as well as including much detail about how they met, the invitation and RSVP form, and links to an online gift registry. With the online RSVP, guests often find it much easier to reply; one Bride said over 75% of her guests replied online finding it a more convenient process.

Some couples start with a wedding website, and having found it a useful tool for keeping friends and family informed, extend it to include anything that may happen to them in the future e.g. children, accomplishments, moving abroad etc.

With the growing popularity of destination weddings, having a personal wedding website is perfect. All travel information can then be listed, including maps and local hotels if needed, which saves guests having to do their own research. A website also enables you to provide information about the area, giving guests a chance to get excited about the location as well as your upcoming nuptials!

Decorating the website using your chosen colors, theme and style for the wedding day will help to set the scene in advance of the main event. A number of the better wedding website companies offer a choice of templates which help make setting up your personal wedding pages as easy as possible, ensuring that you don’t have to be an employee of Bill Gates to get great looking results!

Another valuable tool to the newlyweds-to-be are business cards. What better and easier way is there to share your wedding website address than by simply handing your friends and family your card with your website address and other pertinent information - maybe with a reminder of the big day! Rather than having to arm everyone with pen and paper - give them a few business cards and when they run into the cousin that you don't see as often, they have an easy way of passing along the information as well. My business cards can be personalized for your occassion by color or theme.
