Things to think about 6-12 Months Before Your Wedding
• Announce the engagement: use formal announcement and/or a newspaper
• Choose a wedding date/time
• Decide the style and size wedding that you want – any special theme?
• Set a budget
• Hire Wedding Consultant if you are planning to
• Start your wedding planner or notebook – helps to keep you organized
• Reserve your ceremony location and reception location
• Choose and invite your attendants
• Choose your officiant
• Create a preliminary guest list – include addresses and relationships (in case you later need to trim the list down). Ask parents to do the same so you don’t get any surprises later
• Shop for your wedding dress – order at least 6-8 months in advance if at all possible
• If you are planning a honeymoon, begin making your decisions now and if you are leaving the country make sure you have your passport up to date and know any visa requirements
• Interview any Vendors you may decide on:
o Caterer
o Florist
o Photographer
o Videographer
o Musicians/DJ
Ask for references, deposit required, cancellation policy
